The year was 2007 and I was in a huge conference hall with over 3,000 other people. My wife and I were mesmerized among with the other 3000 attendees by one of the best storytellers I had ever heard.

Classic motivational speaker... And on this day, I watched with amazement how he motivated a lot of people to run to the back of the room, credit card in hand, to plunk down a deposit on a very expensive program.

And how did he do it?

He did it with a story... specifically by using a combination of techniques based on a parallel construction and a framework I call- the 5 Neural Hooks.

From the beginning of time, stories are how we have passed on our values, made sense of the world and effected change. Our brains have evolved to be literally wired to pay special attention to stories, and be affected by them.

Today, stories are how we influence our customers, our teams, and our audiences.

It's one of the most powerful tools we have to get people to take action.
